HEAD WOMEN’S BASKETBALL COACH, Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, Murray State University. Murray State University, NCAA Division I, is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference. This is a full-time, 12 month position to begin no later than April 7, 2017.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Coach's essential duties and responsibilities include: • Support the mission and philosophy of the university. • Hire, supervise and professionally develop assistant coaches. • Supervise and participate in the recruitment of high-quality student- athletes • Retain and graduate student-athletes • Plan and manage team travel • Supervise and manage the inventory of sports equipment • Oversee the budget for the program • Schedule facilities to facilitate practice • Plan, organize, and participate in practice and games. • Identify, develop and teach effective offensive and defensive schemes leading student-athletes to success in competition. • Speak and participate in promotional activities and assist the Director of Athletics in fundraising activities • Work in liaison with community groups to encourage and foster their participation in the athletic activities or events • Serve on university, conference, or national level committees as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Previous collegiate coaching and/or playing experience required, preferably at the Division I level. Previous head coaching experience preferred. History of or demonstrated ability to recruit exceptional student-athletes required. A record of accomplishment in student-athlete skill development, community relations, academic achievement, budget management, practice and game planning, and opponent evaluation is required. Knowledge of and the ability to apply NCAA and Conference rules as they relate to the women’s basketball program required. History of or demonstrated ability to work well with students, faculty, community, and media is required. Excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills required. Must have working knowledge of computers (Microsoft Office). Successful candidate will be required to pass the NCAA Off-Campus Recruiting Exam.
