To oversee all coaching and leadership aspects of a model women’s basketball program as they relate to academic commitment, supervision of staff and personnel, practice organization and instruction, game preparation, recruitment, scheduling and budget management.• Demonstrate respect for the Catholic and Franciscan values of the university• Relate effectively to student-athletes, coaches, staff, administration and the University community• Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvement• Assume all coaching responsibilities related to the sport of basketball• Assume all administrative responsibilities related to the sport of basketball, including purchase and maintenance of all equipment and coordination of food, lodging and transportation needs• Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes• Develop and enforce team rules• Plan, develop and conduct all in-season and off-season practices and conditioning sessions• Instruct and supervise staff• Ensure that proper safety guidelines and standards are maintained• Coordinate all strategy related to the sport of basketball• Responsible for all aspects of recruitment in accordance with university and NAIA rules• Work in conjunction with athletic administration and Financial Aid Services in awarding financial assistance, specifically athletic scholarships• Understand and support all athletic policies and regulations, as well as all philosophies, of the University, Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics• Understand and support the NAIA Champions of Character Coaches Code• Work in conjunction with athletic administration in scheduling games and practices• Represent the athletic department and university in a professional manner at various internal and external functions and in working with internal and external constituencies, including but not limited to the media and general public• Oversee all aspects of budget preparation and management• Serve on various university committees as assigned• Perform other administrative duties within the department as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree
• Three years of basketball coaching experience (collegiate preferred)
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position
• Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Willingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the University
