West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses, is seeking a self-motivated and driven Assistant Men's Basketball Coach for the new WVU Beckley campus. This position will report to the WVU Tech Director of Athletics.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head Coach in managing all aspects associated with a collegiate men's basketball program. Work in this position will primarily focus on the development of student-athletes.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will: •Assist the Head Men’s Basketball Coach with responsibilities as required for an NAIA Division I or NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Program. •Assist in preparation of NAIA and/or NCAA, institutional scholarship award forms and submitting signed contracts for scholarships. •Assist in evaluating talent in current and prospective student-athletes. •Assist in organizing and conducting a strength conditioning program. •Assist in coordinating team meetings, athletic study halls for men’s basketball athletes, strength and conditioning work outs, etc. •Assist in monitoring the academic progress, retention rates and graduation rates of Men’s Basketball players. •Assist with recruiting quality student athletes that meets the criteria established by the Athletic Administration. •Schedule athletic facilities usage

Qualifications •Bachelor’s degree •Collegiate basketball playing experience - 2 yrs and/or •Successful basketball coaching experience - 1 year •Ability to work collaboratively and positively with administration, athletic department staff, faculty, students and the Director of Athletics •Excellent communication and interpersonal skills •Excellent computer skills
