Basic Function: Assists the head coach in all aspects of an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), Division III women’s basketball team.
Specific Responsibilities: Assisting the head coach with day-to day operations of the team including practice planning and set up, positional instruction, post practice evaluations, recruiting, team travel assistance, team lodging, team study hall, community service, fundraising, camps and other duties assigned by the head coach.
Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required as well as college level playing and or coaching experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills required. The successful candidate must possess computer skills, recruiting capabilities, leadership, role modeling, organizational, and interpersonal skills and ability to work in team relationships with diverse students, faculty, staff, alumni. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and a desire to work in a NCAA Division III environment.
The assistant coach must have a thorough knowledge and conscientious adherence to the rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, Title IX and equal opportunity regulations, FERPA and all applicable College policies and practices.
