The NCAA is offering a men’s basketball summer employment opportunity for up to 12 NCAA Division II and Division III basketball managers and student-athletes. This position will be at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis. Employment will begin on or before June 1, 2019 depending on your availablity and employment will end on August 7, 2019. Final round interviews will be conducted between January 20 and January 31, 2020.
Last year, the NCAA created the College Basketball Academy, a new developmental basketball academy created by the NCAA at the recommendation of Dr. Condoleezza Rice and the Commission on College Basketball. The NCAA College Basketball Academy will provide an elite basketball academy experience for up to 1,200 of the top collegiate prospects. Players must self-nominate themselves for the camp. Programming includes skill development, games and life skills meant to benefit prospective student-athletes, as well as provide a first-class evaluation opportunity for Division I men’s basketball coaches. The 2020 NCAA College Basketball Academy will take place in four regional locations (Salt Lake City, UT; Rock Hill, SC; Wichita, KS; and Storrs, Connecticut), with each region having two sessions. The first academy session will be July 20-23, and the second will be July 23-26.
These individuals will have three main functions. 1.) Through Teamworks, communicate with their assigned players/parents and assist them with all waivers, travel, and Academy logistics. 2.) Research and compile data from players attending the Academies. 3.) On-site, execute registration, airport assistance, game operations and other duties.
• Develop an understanding of the Teamworks software and use it for all aspects of the Academies. • Serve as a point of contact for a set number of players and parents and assist them with preparation for the Academies including travel, lodging, general logistics, etc. • Research past and current Academy data to help us make more informed decisions • Assist with equipment packing and shipping for the Academies • Utilize your own social media knowledge to help us enhance our social plan to effectively reach players • Assist with execution of athletic assessments for athletes on site • Airport Transportation Shuttle on-site • Check-in/Registration at dorms • Academy operations assistance on-site (schedule, Teamworks messaging, etc.) • Oversee managers who are working the Academies • Other administrative duties as assigned.
1.) Must be a current Division II or Division III student-athlete or manager entering their junior, senior or post-graduate year 2.) Must pass a SafeSport check and obtain a USA Basketball Gold License through the NCAA 3.) Minimum 3.0 GPA 4.) Must agree to stay in the housing provided by the NCAA for the duration of the internship
