The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Graduate Assistant- Women’s Basketball Coach for the 2022-2023 term, with a potential renewal for 2023-2024.
Primary Responsibilities: •Assist the head coach in developing and maintaining a system to identify and recruit talented student-athletes •Assist in monitoring student-athletes academic progress •Assist in retaining current student-athletes •Assist the head coach and assistant coach with all game day responsibilities, practice preparation, evaluation, and implementation. •Assist in scouting future opponents •Assist with developing social media platforms •Serve as a role model for the student-athletes by exhibiting ethical and professional conduct at all times •Assist head coach with monitoring ARC policies and procedures applicable to the women’s basketball program •Attend coaching meetings scheduled by Athletic Director •Maintain a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with Athletic Department Staff, university staff, students, and the community •Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission
Requirements: •Bachelor’s degree is required and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters’ program •Previous basketball coaching experience or playing experience at collegiate level preferred •Ability to recruit and coach talented student-athletes •Ability to adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations of the university, NCAA, and ARC •Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment •Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and public •Ability to use a personal computer and other necessary computer programs •Ability to travel often and work nights and weekends •Must be able to stand and move during practices, games for prolonged periods of time •Must be able to watch and analyze video of opposing team •Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
All graduate tuition is waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA. In return for a waiver of tuition, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week.
