Title: Men’s Head Basketball Coach Status: Full-time, 35 hours/week, Academic Year Appointment Affiliation: NUNC (Non-Union/Non-Classified) Grade: 12 Reports to: Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation
PRIMARY PURPOSE: As Head Coach, this individual is responsible for all aspects of the men’s basketball program (recruiting, conducting practices, games’ strategy, scheduling, academic monitoring, etc.) and team performance. In addition to the position’s primary responsibility, this individual will be required to play a leadership role in departmental fundraising and in support of the college’s enrollment management initiatives.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Essential Job Functions Oversee and be responsible for all aspects of the men’s basketball program that will enhance team performance to include, but not be limited to, recruiting, conducting practices, game strategy, scheduling, etc.
Assist in ongoing instructional basketball programs and clinics.
Assist in departmental fundraising activities and coordinate fundraising activities as they relate to the basketball program.
Play a significant role in the marketing of college departmental and college activities in particular sports camps.
Build ongoing relationships with other campus departments to insure the successful outcome of recruiting student-athletes.
Work in conjunction with student-athlete success center personnel to insure successful academic centered outcomes.
Occasional Job Functions
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Sport’s Administration, Recreation, Physical Education, or related field.
Experience: A minimum of five years of basketball coaching experience at the collegiate level.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
Ability to interact with a diversified group of constituents.
Knowledge of the NCAA; its rules, regulations and philosophies.
Demonstrated ability to recruit student-athletes at the intercollegiate level.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate vans and automobiles.
